The navigation will be mainly coastal and will have as its purpose to search for and observe Bottlenose dolphins during 3 hours 30. In recent years we have proved that we had between 95% and 100% success in our naturalistic observations – 100% in 2024! The Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops Truncatus) is the only coastal cetacean species in the Mediterranean. This is abundant and regularly observed during the spring/ summer on the Vermeille coast. An educational conference (in French) will be organized on board (ecology of the Bottlenose dolphin and its particularities on the Radiant and Vermeille coast). Our naturalist guide will animate the release continuously with scientific and naturalistic comments. The remarkable biology of the Bottlenose dolphin will be addressed (diet, fishing technique, games, rest…). But also the threats that weigh on him and the protection measures, especially in the local context.
The navigation will be done by motor in order to travel a maximum distance in search of the Bottlenose dolphin. Once the cetaceans are spotted, the approach will be smooth and remote. Indeed, NAVIVOILE is labelled “High Quality Whale-Watching®” – a collective trademark registered by the ACCOBAMS (Agreement on the conservation of cetaceans in the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and the adjacent Atlantic area) which guarantees you the respectful observation of whales and dolphins. The fact that statistics showed us that we had an average of 95% success in our whale sightings. This includes all our whale and/or dolphin sightings trips. However the remaining 5% we have also shown that we are going to meet wild animals and therefore we can never guarantee their observations in a safe way.
In a second time 3 hours 30 later…
We will dock in the port of Port Vendres. You will be accompanied by a crew member until the small train stops. From Port Vendres, the small train will run along the quays of the small fishing and commercial port of Port Vendres. It will then take you to Collioure by the corniche (about 15′). You will be able to appreciate a part of the rocky coast with its coves and also enjoy the comments broadcast on board the small train. The small train will drop you in the center of Collioure a few steps from shops, the small port and historical monuments. You will then have all the time necessary (about 4h30) to visit this charming village in a relaxed way.
Do not be dependent on your vehicle and finally avoid endless traffic jams and the parking lots of Collioure often full in the middle of summer. Comments:
- Depending on the season, departure and arrival times may differ (please refer to the “Schedule” in the main menu).
- Passengers must board 20 minutes before the departure time shown on the boarding pass.
- Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
- Don’t forget your swimming things for the stopover in Collioure (swimwear, towels)!
- Customers who have made a booking must consult the answering service on +33(0)6 23 20 69 76 from 6:00 pm on the day before the trip. The trip will then be confirmed or cancelled depending on the latest marine weather forecast websites.
- The dolphin cruise with stopover Port Vendres and Collioure from Canet en Roussillon is exceptional and accessible to the youngest but attention parents, this cruise lasts 11:30 and some young children could then find the time long despite the wealth of discoveries.
Aboard the little tourist train for Port Vendres and Collioure:
- For safety reasons in the event of emergency braking, children under 4 years old must sit on a parent’s lap.
- Large items of luggage are not allowed on the little train (cool boxes, suitcases, etc.). Only rucksacks and handbags are allowed.
- Pushchairs are not allowed on the little train (including buggies). However, passengers can hire “ultra-compact” pushchairs when booking their cruise tickets, subject to available stock.
- Dogs over 3 kilograms are prohibited on board.
Information about hiring “ultra compact” pushchairs (the only pushchairs allowed on the little tourist train for Port Vendres/Collioure):
- Pushchairs are not allowed on the little train (including buggies). Parents, if your young child (under 4 years old) cannot yet walk well, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND hiring one or more “ultra-compact” pushchairs when booking your cuirse tickets, subject to available stock.
- Our “ultra compact” pushchairs are SMALL BUT TOUGH!
- Ideal for travelling on land during your stopover in Collioure, handy and easy to store away. You can also put them on your lap or under your seat on the little train.
- They convert from pushchair mode to folded mode ina few seconds.
- Recommended age: from 6 months to 4 years old approximately.

Deposit for hiring the “ultra compact”
- You will be asked to pay a deposit of €130 by cheque upon boarding and collecting the pushchair. A check will be performed in front of you to make sure that the pushchair is working properly before it is handed over to you.
- What does this deposit cover if any of the following situations occur?
- The pushchair being lost or stolen during your free stopover in Collioure.
- Upon returning the hired pushchair, any damage noted such as damaged or missing parts affecting conversion from folded mode to pushchair mode or the other way round, torn/burnt fabric, or rolling and abnormal travel of the pushchair.
- Any anomaly that could compromise the child’s safety in the pushchair.
- If no problems are noted when you return the hired pushchair, you will receive your deposit back in full.

- Changes may be made to the programme content according to weather conditions or any technical problems that may arise.
- Cruises will depart subject to a minimum number of passengers signing up: 15 adults.
- Trips may be cancelled without prior notice in the event of bad weather or technical problems, in which case the trips will be postponed or a full refund will be given.
